For years within the Irish Fire Prevention industry, it was acknowledged that the Fire Alarms Systems business was fragmented and lacked a consistent and united representative association.
In 2004 after a number of get-togethers a steering committee of five people who had extensive knowledge of the business were elected as a steering committee with the mandate to organise and establish the association.
On the 23rd June 2005, the Association was formally launched at a meeting which was attended by a representative from almost all the Fire Alarm and Extinguishing companies in the Republic Ireland.
The steering committee, having completed their work, which included the establishment of a constitution, suggested a number of proposals and put forward a proposal and a strategy to enhance the organisation going forward. The Association then elected an executive management committee in accordance with the association constitution using this blueprint.
